Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24) issued the following statement on President Obama's Afghanistan policy:

"The President has outlined a strategy for the War in Afghanistan that will combat the threat of al Qaeda and global terrorism while setting defined goals and a clear exit strategy to bring our troops home as soon as possible.

"Consistent with the advice of our generals on the ground, the strategy rightly focuses on providing the resources necessary to stabilize the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region -- a breeding ground for terrorism. At the same time, the plan will accelerate the transfer of responsibility for securing Afghanistan to the Afghan people where it belongs."

"As we move forward in Afghanistan, I will continue working to ensure that providing American troops and their families with the support that they need remains one of our highest priorities."
